Last year’s seedling is now growing up fast though it is still inconspicuous among the stones. In this deserted quarry it is one of the first plants to colonise the wasteland – Centaury is a courageous pioneer. Something here of the positive remedy state: brave and outgoing. Everywhere the tiny pairs of leaves show that the next generation has already germinated. But it will be 12 months before they reach the size of the first picture.

A really wonderful warm and sunny day and the bees are thronging to the earliest flowers. A perfect day to make the mother essence. Cherry Plum is about brilliant energy and light – so uplifting after the weeks of storm and rain. One of the three first remedies of the Second Nineteen discovered in 1935. The others were Elm and Aspen.
We have been building some deep beds for vegetables – nothing so good as fresh food. We brought in compost because the clay soils here are so wet and heavy. Spreading it all was fun but the best bit was planting the onions! We will keep you posted about progress when spring comes.
